Twin Cities couple cooks up possible solution to son’s rare disease

Rosario: Little Leo the lion-hearted’s success with an incurable disease now has Mayo interest

Anne St. Martin, left, accesses her son Leo’s gastrostomy tube so he can eat as he is held by his dad, Denis, in Leo’s bedroom in West St. Paul on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018. Leo, 2 1/2, suffers from Pompe’s disease, which prevents the breakdown of sugar in his body. The couple, aided by family friend Donald Bennett, came up with a diet that is helping their son cope with the affliction. Their research is the inspiration for a study launched by the Mayo Clinic. Leo eats both orally and through the gastrostomy tube. (Jean Pieri / Pioneer Press)  Click on this link to read full story.
